Obituary for Alice ""Red"" Burns (Avery)

Alice “Red” Burns, 69, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, September 19, 2014, at her home in Denver, Missouri.

Alice was born December 7, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, to Phillip and Wilma Avery.

She married David Burns in St. Joseph, MO and they had over 50 years together.

She was full of life and didn't know a stranger. She loved her family and friends and was always willing to sacrifice whatever she had to help others. She enjoyed doing ceramics and had a shop in Elwood, Kansas, before moving to Denver, in 2005, where she lived out the rest of her days with her family and her beloved dog Jocko.

She is survived by her husband David. Children include, sons,Timothy Power, David (Shelly) Allen, daughters, Tatia Wilcoxson, and Tena (Vic) Parsons, Grandchildren: Danny (Kristen) Wilcoxson, Schianniah (Josh) Parsons, Danielle (Sheldon) Parsons, Brandon (Monica) Parsons, Taylor Wilcoxson, Timmy (Melissa) Power and Amanda (Tommy) McNamara; Great Grandchildren: Austin Briner, Alice Briner, Aydan McNamara, and Olivia Wilcoxson. Brothers: Mike (Susi) Lyon and Carlton (Erin) Lyon.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Phillip Avery, Clyde and Wilma Lyon, sister Bonnie Spurlock, brother Ronald Avery and Jocko.

Alice's body has been cremated.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Andrews-Hann Funeral Home, followed by Memorial Services at 7:00 pm. Pastor Rich Atkins will officiate the services. Private Inurnment services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her honor to Hands of Hope Hospice - Stanberry Team.
